[To be fair, this started out as a fairly innocuous attempt to find Abigail Callaghan some place to stay besides, well, a homeless shelter.
Started out that way, but not anymore. Because Hiro rarely does things by halves. Maybe he hasn't slept enough to be making these kinds of decisions. Maybe he's going nuts, trying to put the whole world back together, trying to make everything right again, and maybe that's too much pressure for a fourteen-year-old, but he already told her and there's no going back now.
At least he explained some of the situation to her; I have a place you can stay a while, if you need it, and after a moment's hesitation: Plus a way you can see your dad again. But he's in kinda rough shape and you can't tell anybody.
He hasn't told the elder Callaghan anything. Surprising him might be dangerous, but giving him time to try and run away is even worse.
So a few evenings later he waits on a street bench outside Fred's for her to show up. Hiro had thought they'd just pay cab fare for her, but Fred insisted on doing one better.
He sent Heathcliff to pick her up.
He sent Heathcliff to pick her up in the family limousine.
And as if that wasn't enough he packed a bottle of scotch in the backseat cooler, with a note attached reading:
In case you need this 'cuz....yeaaaah - ♥ Fred, I think, unless the ♥ is too weird I dunno]
